ORN and the New RAA Professional Requirements

February 10, 2014

The Reflexology Association of America (RAA), with whom ORN is affiliated, has changed their requirement of training hours for attaining Professional status. The requirement has been 200 hours up till now, but it will be 300 hours after July 1, 2014. As an affiliate ORN has to comply with this change.

What this means for ORN reflexologists is:

Associate members of ORN who plan to upgrade to Professional member in the near future, should get their 200 hours of training in before June 30, 2014! This includes those who took Bill Flocco's Certification Course but have not yet completed all the documentation, and those who are considering taking the ARCB exam in Portland this spring. If you can't show proof of 200 hours of training before July 1, you will need 300 hours to qualify for Professional membership in ORN.

Professional members of ORN will be grandfathered in and remain professional as long as they pay the annual ORN dues by June 30, 2014 each year.

RAA Professional membership: If you are a Professional member of RAA or want to join RAA as a Professional member, you need to take care of your membership dues by June 30, 2014 or the requirement will be 300 hours of training.

Below is the information we have received from RAA.

State Affiliations are required to follow RAA on the following 4 items:

1. Keep the same fiscal year (July 1 to June 30)

2. Open membership to all reflexologists no matter their education or school attended

3. Offer the same two membership levels (Professional & Associate) to members

4. Bond the Treasurer

That means that starting July 1, State Affiliates must require the 300 hours for Professional level membership. RAA is grandfathering in current memberships (with less than 300 hours) who renew by June 30th, so you might want to remind your membership of that. After that date, any new applicants or any lapsed members with less that 300 hours will have to meet the new requirements.
